Generally speaking, my training is all bespoke, since I base it on each individual's current needs, where they're at, and - most importantly - where they need to get to.

Many people who come to me are wanting to improve their shooting skills for factual TV and documentary, such as researchers, AP’s, PD’s and self-shooters, as well as those wanting to get to grips with new camera systems.

​

Normally, training would be done at your office, home or production company. Should we need to, we can look into an affordable option for a third-party venue in a convenient location.

 

Since my training is individual-specific, it's also relevant for non-professional owner-operators who simply need help figuring out the camera they have!

My priority is always to demystify the technical side of the camera and to create shooting habits that make your life easier.

Whilst this training is not camera-specific, most often I am being asked to train on the Sony FX range of cameras (largely the FX6, but also the FX3 and FX9).

 

For freelancers or production companies that don't have the equipment already to hand, the FX6 is my in-house camera, and therefore the camera I can provide training on the most economically.

 

I can also provide training on Canon and Blackmagic cameras.

Areas I almost always cover (where relevant to the trainee) include :

- 'f' stops and depth of field - how to work

- Demystifying colour temperature and white balance

- Auto-focus settings for different shooting scenarios

- Getting a new camera up and ready to shoot with QUICKLY!
